GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
Think you have little to offer? Someone is counting on what God has entrusted to you.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 12:39-48
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Be sure of this:
if the master of the house had known the hour
when the thief was coming,
he would not have let his house be broken into.
You also must be prepared,
for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”
Then Peter said,
“Lord, is this parable meant for us or for everyone?”
And the Lord replied,
“Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward
whom the master will put in charge of his servants
to distribute the food allowance at the proper time?
Blessed is that servant whom his master on arrival finds doing so.
Truly, I say to you, he will put him
in charge of all his property.
But if that servant says to himself,
‘My master is delayed in coming,’
and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants,
to eat and drink and get drunk,
then that servant’s master will come
on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour
and will punish the servant severely
and assign him a place with the unfaithful.
That servant who knew his master’s will
but did not make preparations nor act in accord with his will
shall be beaten severely;
and the servant who was ignorant of his master’s will
but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating
shall be beaten only lightly.
Much will be required of the person entrusted with much,
and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.”

GOING DEEPER
God entrusts us with gifts through which His love is meant to reach real people.
Who is waiting for something you have the capacity—and the responsibility—to give?
Peter asks whether the warning applies to the disciples or to everyone. We might recognize our own desire to establish the boundaries of a difficult teaching before letting it reach us. Jesus answers with a household and a responsibility: someone must see that the others receive their food. Readiness takes the form of faithful care. When the master arrives, the blessed servant is attending to the people entrusted to him.
The steward occupies a revealing position: he has authority over provisions that belong to someone else. His responsibility is to distribute them at the proper time. That detail gives the parable its practical force. Food withheld until tomorrow does little for someone hungry today. Likewise, affection, encouragement, guidance, and forgiveness have moments when they are particularly needed. Faithfulness includes learning to recognize those moments and respond.
The servant’s decline begins in his inward conversation. He interprets the master’s delay as permission to live for himself, and the people in his care suffer. We, too, can believe in God while conducting our daily lives as though He were far away. We make decisions within a closed circle of our own preferences and pressures. Jesus calls us back into conscious relationship with Him, where responsibility becomes a place to receive His wisdom and participate in His love.
For us as parents, the home is the domestic church, and much has been entrusted to us there. A child needs correction offered patiently enough to be understood. A spouse needs a promise kept without another reminder. An aging parent may need a call we have postponed. Our authority and influence deserve honest examination, especially when frustration makes us harsh. The people entrusted to us must never become outlets for our anger. A gift becomes fruitful when someone else is nourished by it.
Jesus’ severe warning gives weight to what we do with what we know. Greater understanding brings greater responsibility; ignorance and deliberate refusal are not treated identically. We can ask Him to show us where we have neglected a duty, seek forgiveness, and make a concrete repair. Prayer, Confession, and the Eucharist draw us more deeply into the life from which faithful service grows. We need grace to become dependable in love.
Build saint-forming homes by placing your abilities and influence at the service of those entrusted to you; pray over your spouse and children by name, asking for wisdom to recognize what each needs; act in the power of the Holy Spirit by fulfilling one neglected responsibility today with care and generosity.

LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: What responsibility have I been explaining away even though I know what faithfulness requires?
In My Home: Who needs something from me that I repeatedly promise to give later?
In My World: How could my knowledge, skills, or influence help someone whose needs are easily overlooked?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around … invite each person to name one ability they appreciate in another family member and how that ability helps others.
Then pray over each person by name: “Father, help [Name] personally know Your generous love. Free them from the Enemy’s lies that their contribution is insignificant or that their gifts are only for themselves. Strengthen them to overcome temptation, especially laziness, resentment, and misuse of influence. Fill them with joyful willingness to follow Jesus by doing their part and caring for others today. Amen.”
Daily Challenge: Complete one overdue household responsibility without being reminded.
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
