GOD’S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
I send you. Travel light. What I have given you is enough.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 9:1-6
Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority
over all demons and to cure diseases,
and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God
and to heal the sick.
He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey,
neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money,
and let no one take a second tunic.
Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there.
And as for those who do not welcome you,
when you leave that town,
shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them.”
Then they set out and went from village to village
proclaiming the Good News and curing diseases everywhere.

GOING DEEPER
He does not first load the apostles with supplies. He loads them with Himself.
Beloved, what extra tunic are you still clutching as if the Kingdom could not keep you?
Jesus summons, then He gives, then He sends. The order matters. Before a village is entered, the Twelve receive dynamis and exousia—power and authority—not as a personality upgrade, but as a share in His own work: demons driven out, the sick healed, the Kingdom proclaimed. Then the stripping: no staff, no sack, no bread, no silver, no second shirt. In a world where a traveler’s safety was what he carried, this is holy exposure. They will have to receive houses as gift. They will have to discover that the mission is not their inventory.
“Shake the dust from your feet” was a known gesture: a Jew leaving pagan ground sometimes shook off what did not belong to Israel. Jesus places that sign on a town that will not welcome the Kingdom. It is not spite. It is testimony. The Gospel may be refused. The messenger is not required to stay and bargain for applause.
Saint Pius of Pietrelcina lived this poverty of reliance: long hours in the confessional, a hidden life of intercession, nothing in his hands but the authority of Christ. The same Lord still sends households that will travel lighter than their fear.
Parents, build saint-forming homes. Pray over your spouse and children by name. Act in the power of the Holy Spirit by leaving behind one extra provision today and going where He sends.
“Christ invites his disciples to follow him by taking up their cross in their turn. By following him they acquire a new outlook on illness and the sick. Jesus makes them share in his ministry of compassion and healing: ‘So they went out and preached that men should repent. And they cast out many demons, and anointed with oil many that were sick and healed them.’” (CCC 1506)
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
In My Heart: What am I still packing because I do not trust what Jesus has already given?
In My Home: How can our family travel lighter this week and depend more on God and on one another?
In My World: Where is He sending us to proclaim and to heal—even if some will not welcome it?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around …
Name one “second tunic” you can set down so you are freer to be sent. Then pray over your spouse and each person by name, asking the Father to deepen their personal knowledge of His love, free them from every lie of the Enemy, strengthen them against temptation, and fill them with joyful, concrete living of the Gospel.
Daily Challenge:
Go somewhere today with one less backup plan, and offer a word or act of healing in Jesus’ name.

LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.
