GOD'S DECLARATION TO YOU TODAY
I send you with My authority—trust Me, not your supplies, to provide all you need.
INVOCATION
Come, Holy Spirit! Through the intercession of Our Blessed Mother Mary, open my heart to hear and receive all that You desire for me. Draw me ever more deeply into the Love and Life of the Blessed Trinity!
GOSPEL | Luke 9:1-6
Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority
over all demons and to cure diseases,
and he sent them to proclaim the Kingdom of God
and to heal the sick.
He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey,
neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money,
and let no one take a second tunic.
Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there.
And as for those who do not welcome you,
when you leave that town,
shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them.”
Then they set out and went from village to village
proclaiming the good news and curing diseases everywhere.

GOING DEEPER
Sent with Nothing but His Power
Jesus does something remarkable here: He gives the Twelve His own authority—power to cast out demons, heal diseases, and proclaim the Kingdom. But then He immediately strips them of every earthly safeguard. No bag, no money, no spare clothes. Why? Because the mission depends not on human resources, but on divine power.
In the first-century world, itinerant preachers often carried provisions to sustain themselves. To take nothing would have been radical, forcing them into complete dependence on hospitality and, ultimately, on God Himself. Jesus wanted His disciples to learn early that the Kingdom spreads not through clever strategies or comfort, but through trust in His providence.
This challenges us today. We want security—extra savings, backups, plans for every contingency. None of those are bad in themselves, but Jesus warns that if we lean on them more than Him, we risk missing the adventure of discipleship. He calls us to live with a holy detachment: to step into uncertainty with confidence, because He goes with us.
Parents, this is critical in family life. Our children need to see that our security is not in possessions but in God’s promises. When we live generously—giving when it stretches us, choosing family prayer over endless busyness, saying yes to God’s nudges even when it’s uncomfortable—we place our lamp on the stand. We teach our children that the real treasure is faith, not stuff.
And Jesus adds a freeing detail: if a town rejects you, shake the dust off and move on. Parents, we will experience rejection—in workplaces, schools, even among extended family. Our call is not to win every argument, but to stay faithful, rooted in Christ. What matters is not how people respond, but that we continue to proclaim the Kingdom in word and deed.
Today, ask yourself: what extra “tunics” am I clinging to—comforts, fears, securities—that keep me from radical trust? What if I began praying over my children by name, asking God to free them from false securities and make them bold in following Him? That is the inheritance worth leaving.
“Jesus enjoins his disciples to prefer him to everything and everyone, and bids them ‘renounce all that [they have]’ for his sake and that of the Gospel” (CCC 2544).
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
Radical Trust: What is one “extra tunic” or false security that Jesus is asking me to lay down?
Family Witness: How can our home model dependence on God more than dependence on possessions?
Perseverance in Mission: Where am I called to keep proclaiming Christ, even if I am not welcomed or understood?
FAMILY LIVE IT
Make some time today to gather together and, going around, each person share one way they can depend more on God this week instead of leaning on their own comfort or control.
Then pray over each person by name:
“Lord Jesus, You are our security. Free [Name] from false comforts and fears. Fill them with bold trust in Your providence. Give them courage to follow You in faith and confidence, knowing that You alone are enough.”
DAILY PARENT & GRANDPARENT BLESSING
LORD JESUS CHRIST, let Your holy anointing be upon each of our children, grandchildren, and godchildren this day and week, including all to whom they are called in vocation, and all future generations! In Your Sacred Name we claim them for You! We renounce all whispers, lies, and influences of the Enemy! We pray right now that each know Your loving Presence, be forged in virtue, and be flooded with an abundance of Your Holy Spirit to live fully their identity and mission in You now and through all eternity, through the intercession of our Blessed Mother! Amen.

GOING VERTICAL
“Be still and know that I am God.” Psalm 46:10
Just as the vertical beam upholds the horizontal beam of the Cross, so too does undistracted, dedicated daily turning to God as our lifeblood uphold and strengthen every part of life. Start with just three minutes. Wait patiently for the breakthrough beyond the noise. Let Him speak.
